Doris Clanton has been painting
since she came to Florida in
1972. She lives in Clearwater with her Bombay cat,
Buddy. Although she has not formally attended
art school, she has studied with Mary Henderson and
Terry Madden. She was attracted by their bright
colors and fun loving look on life. She also has
taken workshops with many other artists. Ms Clanton
is attending St Pete College for additional art
courses.
Doris was
mainly a watercolor artist but has recently branched
out to acrylics with a series of Caribbean folk
people. She has another series of Florida subjects.
Her favorite subjects to paint are birds, flowers
and objects of nature. Doris does commission work
from time to time. Ms. Clanton does abstract as well
as realistic painting.
Ms Clanton was the artist for the
Clearwater Aquarium for two years. She has done many
commissions for professional offices and homes
working the colors of the decor into her paintings.
Ms. Clanton is a member of Studio
1212 located in Clearwater as well as the Creative
Artists Guild of Dunedin. She is also a member of
the Crystal Beach Art Group. She participates in

Clinic and Directions for Mental Health as well as
