Dottie
Clagett Choate is an award winning artist who works
in watercolor, acrylics and mixed media. Her style
is versatile, ranging from realism to non-objective
abstract, with emphasis on line and color. "My
paintings have been influenced by my Illinois roots
and my early memories of stark black lines of
leafless trees against a wintry sky, white fluffy
clouds in blue skies, the vivid colors of summer
flowers, and the brilliant colors of fall."
Over the years, Dottie has studied with many locally
as well as nationally known artists. She is a
member of the Crystal Beach Art Group,
International Society of Acrylic Painters of
Florida, Dunedin Fine Art Center, The Museum of Fine
Art in St. Petersburg, The Art Center in St
Petersburg, the Florida Watercolor Society as well
as Studio 1212 Art Gallery of Clearwater, FL.
Dottie works out of her studio in her home, and
